The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them. When they saw him, they worshiped him, but they doubted. Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” They asked him, “Lord, has the time come for you to restore the kingdom to Israel?” He replied, "It is not for you to know times or dates that the Father has decided by his own authority, but you will receive the power of the Holy Spirit which will come on you, and then you will be my witnesses not only in Jerusalem but throughout Judaea and Samaria, and indeed to earth’s remotest end." Then the Lord Jesus, after he spoke to them, was taken up into heaven, and a cloud took him from their sight. He then took his seat at the right hand of God. (Daniel 7:13-14) They were still staring into the sky as he went, when suddenly two men in white were standing beside them, and they said, “Why are you Galileans standing here looking into the sky? This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will come back in the same way as you have seen him go to heaven.” They did him homage. From the Mount of Olives, as it is called, they returned to Jerusalem, a short distance away, no more than a Sabbath walk, with great joy.

When they reached the city, they went to the upper room where they were staying.

There was Simon, to whom he gave the name Peter,
James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James, to whom he gave the name Boanerges or “Sons of Thunder”,
Andrew the brother of Peter,
Matthew Levi, the tax collector, who was the son of Alpheus,
James the son of Alphaeus,
Judas also known as Thaddaeus, son of James,
In addition, Simon the Zealot.

With one heart, all these joined constantly in prayer, together with some women, including Mary the mother of Jesus and with his brothers and were continually in the temple praising God. Then they went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word through accompanying signs.
